Paris was not love at first sight for me. I suffered with the lack of sun and the dark days impressed me very much, along with the black trees without leaves, in the winter of the Luxembourg gardens close to the atelier. This was when I produced a series of figures that illustrated the stems and buds that would be so anticipated in spring and who´s names where Sun, Light, Spring… Even so I was happy during that period and the proof of this was that all of my friends used to call me “Sonia Golgate”.
